Initiation

The Cafenatics group owns coffee shops throughout the Melbourne CBD, Southgate and Docklands.

As a tenant of Equiset's 737 Bourke Street, Cafenatics' owner Joseph Haddad had an existing relationship with Equiset.

Equiset's refurbishment of the InterContinental Hotel included a new retail tenancy on Flinders Lane, a perfect location for Cafenatics.

Impressed with Equiset's work on the InterContinental Hotel, Cafenatics approached Equiset to fit out the new café.

While the project value was below Equiset's usual scope, the Equiset Living team embraced the opportunity to assist a key client and cement the relationship.

Delivery

After 10 weeks work, Equiset completed the $300,000 fit-out in September 2009.

Despite being a small project, the heritage envelope and existing services created a number of complexities.

As the D&C contractor, Equiset Living redesigned such services as storm water collection and fire distribution boards to integrate with the existing plant and surrounding tenancy

The fit-out features plywood panels with laser-cut imprints that complement the rustic heritage theme.
