Goods Shed North

Melbourne, Docklands

Goods Shed North is the northern half of the heritage listed Goods Shed No. 2 a former railway shed located in the Batman’s Hill precinct of Melbourne Docklands. The $63 million development of this building was undertaken by Equiset, a Grollo Group company, as owner, developer and builder. The building’s historical exterior has been restored to its original grandeur and the interior has become an innovative, contemporary, office space awash with character. It is also the first heritage listed building in Victoria to attain a 5 star Green Star rating for office design.

The magnificent structure, with its soaring ceilings and lofty spaces has become Melbourne’s most exciting and creative new workplace concept.

Located in one of the city’s most sought after locations, with frontages onto both Collins Street and Bourke Street, the Goods Shed is surrounded by the headquarters of major corporations and only a short walk from the heart of the CBD and Southern Cross Station.

The building is to be occupied by state government agencies VicUrban, Building Commission and Plumbing Industry Commission.

Drawing on the building’s rich industrial past, architects Elenberg Fraser have created a uniquely flexible interior. Open-plan floor plates with mezzanine levels that provide functionality and efficiency.

As an Ecological Sustainable Development (ESD), the Goods Shed development will minimise negative environmental effects and reduce operating costs. The ESD initiatives proposed resulted in the project receiving a Melbourne Docklands ESD Award of Excellence, and a 5 star Green Star office design rating.

With its associated retail amenities,
close proximity to public transport, parkland, water and CBD connections, the Goods Shed North presents the perfect office solution for major tenants, VicUrban, the Building Commission and the Plumbing Industry Commission.
